Sneak Peek!!!

22 Apr

Here’s a sneak peek of my new bell jar.   This time I’m thinking of everything Gypsy.

I got popsicle stick projectiles flying everywhere when I was snipping the edges off the sticks to create this caravan.  The carpet is also covered with bits of pine cone scales.  I used pine cone scales for the roof shingles.   So yes, the house is pretty messy at the moment.

More to come, I promise!

And btw…if you don’t mind divulging, where do you get your ideas for these little worlds? As I said before, i can’t imagine having the patience or talent to do anything like this, and certainly don’t have the imagination. Never have seen anything like your works in my life!!

Hi Joyce. My ideas come from a mix of childhood memories, the books I love (Gnomes by Huygen and Poortvliet is a major inspiration), cartoons (I love Studio Ghilbli animated movies), and mundane early morning travels on the train where I have nothing else to do but close my eyes and imagine. My morning commute is by the way, where I got the inspiration for the hot air balloon. Every week I see hot air balloons afloat near the city before I hop off the Southern Cross Train Station here in Melbourne.

I’m also a certified daydreamer as a kid. And I practically see everything in miniature and try to recreate it using craftsticks, glue, and whatever I can find. So yeah, that’s my secret. 😉
